Really glad this Irish Channel mainstay is open again. The old lady has gotten a needed coat of paint and freshened up interior. What hasn’t changed is the welcoming staff, very good poboys (shrimp and roast beef are my favorites), and relaxed neighborhood bar feel. You always feel welcome when you come through that door.
MoreRoast beef poboy was just sloppy enough. Also had a good amount of garlic. Onion rings were very good. Made in house fresh, not frozen.
MoreWent for the firecracker shrimp po boy and red beans and rice. I was not disappointed. Decent beer selection. Has a nice local bar vibe. I elected to have some quiet in the dining area.
MoreGood food. I've going there since the mid 70's. A little disappointed in the price for my 8" oyster poboy. $2 an inch with only 8 or 9 oysters on the sandwich 🤷♂️
MoreTiny hole in the wall place. But serves up delicious sandwiches and sides muffaletta and roast beef were great. As well as the French fries with gravy and the onion rings. Prices were good for the amount of food you got.
MoreGreat old spot for a cheap beer and Poboys. I love a place that's been around forever. The Firecracker shrimp is good, but the roast beer is where its at.
MoreThis is an amazing hole in the wall type of place. No gimmicks, just amazing po’boys. I got a combo po’boy with fried oysters, shrimp, and catfish. I upgraded to onion rings, which was an excellent choice. We also had the firecracker shrimp po’boy, which was just as delicious. Service takes a bit because everything is made to order, but the wait is more than worth it. I definitely plan to come back the next time I’m in NOLA.
MoreTried the roast beef and firecracker shrimp po' boys. Both were excellent, but the roast beef was next level.
MoreI'm still a little iffy with the new owners, but the Pimms Cup tastes the same, but uses cucumber vodka now. Waiting to see how the Firecracker Sauce tastes. But still love the atmosphere and style of the bar.
MoreI love to stop in here every time we make it into town. It’s a hole in the wall with an amazing firecracker po boy. Simple, but great.
MoreWow, wow, wow. I spent 5 days in New Orleans and searched for the best (read tasty and fat filled) food with my friend. We ordered a spicy shrimp poboy (me) and another regular shrimp (poboy) my friend. As sides we got the cheese and gravy fries. They came with large bits of meat in them and may have been the best thing we ate in NOLA. The poboys themselves were so good. Please go here. We took the hop on off bus that dropped is right by. 👌🏼🔥
MoreHoly moly amazing po'boys. I got the firecracker shrimp and my husband got the roast beef. Both were phenomenal. Place your order at the order window and then grab a drink at the bar while you wait for your food. Great local place slightly off the beaten path.
MoreAwesome dive bar feel. Casual neighborhood spot in the irish channel. Great beer selection. Great bartender.
MoreWe were looking for the best roast beef poboy in the city and came across Parasol on Trip Adviser. It was amazing. If you are a traveler who likes to experience the city and where the locals eat, you will love this place. Nothing fancy - they were actually remodeling so weren't serving alcohol and let us go to the bar next door and bring our beer over. Very generous portions and the Parasol's Irish Sundae (potato salad smothered in roast beef and gravy) is a must! Loved it!
MoreGreat small bar / restaurant in the Irish channel. Drinks are good, food is good, staff is friendly. This is one of the best dive(ish) neighborhood bars in New Orleans. It's located very close to another larger Irish bar that pales in comparison!
MoreIt’s finally back! My favorite poboy place in town! The roast beef is amazing!
The Po' boys here are pretty good. We got the spicy shrimp one and the shrimp was excellent. The fries are also really good and come in a generous serving. You need to make sure you have cash because that is all they take. Their food is super fresh and hot but it takes a considerable amount of time to be served your food. Their sweet tea is good but all their other beverages are by the bottle or can. It is a hole in the wall place that is kind of hard to find and in a slightly shady area.
MoreStill feels like a locals' place because the tourists all go upstairs. Also still the best roast beef dressed in the parish, and the coolest bartenders. Essential NOLA joint.
MoreI've been to Parasol's for several St. Patrick's Day block parties. Somewhat uninhibited, felt safe, everybody was in full party mode. Recommend not driving, parking for the event can be an issue if you don't like to walk. Ride share if you're (and most likely will) going to be drinking........
MoreGreat food, greater frozen Irish coffee

MoreVery yummy and great food!
Great po boys and drinks. Fun bartenders
Staff is always great. Poboys are awesome, salads are amazing, cheese bombs are the bomb and super extra cheesy.
MoreEverything I wanted and more. Hot shrimp on the po boy and cold beer in my hand.
The food was spectacular. Very enjoyable, quick, and reasonably priced. The restaurant is small and a little chummy, but it was an enjoyable experience.
MoreDon't let the exterior fool you. Amazing food. Best Poor Boys ever. 6 inch roast beef could have been enough for 3.
MoreGood place to go. Seating for about 15 at bar. Small, cozy, everyone is there to chill. Good food. ONLY TAKES CASH, so be aware of that. Overall, great spot.
MoreThe draft beer was a bit stale (it was green) but that's to be expected since they just reopened. However, the po boys were just as good as I remembered. The staff was friendly. And they practiced social distancing.
MoreThe steak sandwich is good. Moreover, parking can easily find.
One of the best poboys we had in Nola. The firecracker shrimp and the roast beef poboy were simply amazing. And yeah, its a cash only place.
MoreThis place is a hidden gem! We had the shrimp, roast beef, and BBQ beef Po Boys! All were great!
MoreParasol's was a decent place for lunch. They only take cash and the drinks are ordered from a cash-only bar that shares the same building. The shrimp Po-Boy was well done with a generous amount of fried shrimp.
Morethis place is THE BEST! Hands down! Awesome food, great dive bar atmosphere, and great service! We got the regular sized firecracker shrimp po boy (which is huge and over flowing with shrimp) and the Irish sundae (potato salad covered in roast beef drippings)
MoreOur favorite spot in the garden district (and perhaps all of New Orleans). Low key vibe in the bar, great sandwiches (firecracker shrimp and muffuletta are our go-to) and friendly service. So happy they are open again... we plan our trips around a stop at Parasols.
MoreWent for the roast beef po-boy. It was really good, but not quite up to the Food Network hype. The gravy had a lot of flavor and the leidenheimer bread was a hit. I was surprised the beef wasn't more tender, but overall for an $8 sandwich I was very happy.
MoreTheir oyster poboy was comparable to other spots in NOLA however the spicy shrimp is an interesting twist and stands out. Small place next to a bar, usually line forms and can have a wait.
More01/29/17: 4.0 out of 5 - Coming from Portland, Oregon with close friends. Six of us total to be exact, and we're all "Foodies".Admittedly, we did not know what to expect. We went through the bar, and it definitely is a dive bar. The first smell that hit us walking through was the smell of throw up. But FORTUNATELY, the food area is on the upper level. I will say this though, the people in the bar were cool and super nice to us.So on to the food area. It's not much to look at, but you can smell the food cooking, and it smelled absolutely amazing. Between the six of us, we definitely went overboard. The Po'Boy was amazing, the onion rings, the Mozzarella Sticks, the hot wings were all very tasty! The staff that helped us were nice and helpful. I would have rated 4.5 or higher, but that bathroom was an experience. Beware.Regardless, the food and the people of Parasol's do rate 4.5 or higher. Definitely an experience, but try it once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!
MoreThis place was amazing and I'm so glad we went out of our way to eat here. The staff was so kind and the food was amazing. Huge portions and great price.
